What is FIRST?

"To transform our culture by creating a world where science and technology are celebrated and where young people dream of becoming science and technology heroes." Dean Kamen, Founder of FIRST.
FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) was founded by inventor and robotics advocate, Dean Kamen. Since its foundation in 1989, FIRST has continued to inspire in youth a spirit for learning and interests in technology, science, and math.
FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) is a competitive program created for high school aged students by FIRST. The integral part of the FRC is teamwork. Teams are given six weeks to furnish a fully function robot following strict guidelines. Designed to show young people how interesting the lives of engineers and researchers are, the FRC promotes a mature and professional experience for all members. The many aspects of these careers are presented to students who wish to succeed in them, and the FRC lets these students realize their dreams.
What is The FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC)?
The first FRC competition was first held at Manchester Memorial High School in 1992. Since then, the program has reached out to hundreds of thousands of high school students. According to a recent study by Brandeis University, students who participate in the FRC are more likely to succeed in their studies. Designed to show young people how interesting the lives of engineers and researchers are, the FRC promotes a mature and professional experience for all members. The many aspects of these careers are presented to students who wish to succeed in them, and the FRC lets these students realize their dreams. The FRC has give students a strong foothold for pursuing technological and engineering professions.
